Course Description

Dr. Jacob O. Malone was a minister at First Baptist Church of Augusta, GA, for 33 years. Fondly known as "Papa Jake," he and his beloved wife, Delores, had planned to retire in 2014, but suddenly those plans changed. On May 3, 2013, he was diagnosed with Stage IVB pancreatic cancer.

For most of his years, he worked with senior adults and oversaw activities like sports, special events, retreats, and group tours, as well as church administration. The common thread running through his life's work is people. Jake had a tremendous capacity to love people. His love was deep, genuine, and inspiring. He touched the lives of thousands of people, from grief-stricken families at the more than 400 funerals he officiated to the groups of travelers he and Delores led around the world.

Well acquainted with leading adventurous expeditions, Jake gleans from his vast experience for this series to take us on the most significant journey of our lives. Uniquely qualified after his terminal diagnosis, he teaches from the clear perspective of a sojourner on how to die well.

Entertaining and enlightening, Jake shares his travelogue of the final journey we'll all take - the Journey to Paradise. On August 27, 2013, Jake completed his journey.
